Since 1951, when John W. Turner brought his family to Brooksville, Turner Funeral Homes have been for and about families. Mr. Turner loved the family-oriented community of Brooksville and was driven by a lifelong dream to assist families by offering professional and compassionate funeral care. Undaunted by health issues and financial setbacks, Mr. Turner opened a funeral home in the old Charlie Price home at 504 East Jefferson Street in 1959. Just six months later, he would buy out his partner and announce the opening of the John W. Turner Home for Funerals. John Turner's commitment to service and quality care remains the cornerstone of the Turner Funeral Homes today.

At Turner Funeral Homes, we believe that every life is unique. The choices you make to celebrate that life can also be as unique and personalized as you wish. And for those interested in the benefits of planning their arrangements in advance, Turner Funeral Homes and Florida Hills Memorial Gardens offer The Simplicity Plan® prearrangement program, an easy way to handle an important family responsibility.

Turner Funeral Homes

As the oldest funeral business in Hernando County, the Turner family has always believed that, regardless of their faith, social status or circumstances, the deceased and their families deserve unwavering respect and dignity throughout the entire funeral process. It is this family principle that has earned Turner Funeral Homes an unsurpassed reputation throughout Hernando County. Turner Funeral Homes offer traditional, custom, cremation and Veterans services to meet the needs of each family. Today, there are two convenient Hernando County locations to meet area families' needs:

  • Turner's Spring Hill Chapel was constructed in 1978 to meet the needs of the rapidly growing Spring Hill community. The funeral home was expanded and remodeled in 1985 and features a cremation options room and an inspirational chapel with seating for up to 92 people. The funeral home is conveniently located adjacent to Florida Hills Memorial Gardens.
  • The Brooksville Chapel, Turner's original downtown location, is a 7,000-square-foot facility that includes two comfortable visitation rooms, an intimate chapel and convenient off-street parking.
